Know about English Language standard for UK student Visa
Mr. Badrul Amin Bhuiyan. (CEO of KB global Consultant) 18.06.2010
UKBA updated their rules for Tier 4 General & child students which will obviously influence over Bangladeshi genuine students who have good academic back ground. But some student visa consulting firms in Bangladesh misinterpreted their rules and fell them their grid in their own way.
UK BORDER AGENCY HIGHLIGHT SOME RULES ON 22 FABRUARY, THESE ARE THE FOLLOWS:
01. The minimum level of English language course has been raised to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Students will therefore need a higher level of English at a minimum level of B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to come and study an English language course in the UK. Exceptions apply to Government sponsored students and specific pre-sessional English courses.
02. If you are coming to study below degree level (excluding foundation degree students) you will only be able to work 10 hours a week (this has been reduced from 20 hours).
03. If you are studying for a course under Tier 4 for less than six months, you will no longer be able to bring your dependents.
04. Dependants of anyone studying a course lower than degree level (excluding those on foundation degree courses) will no longer be able to work (unless they qualify in their own right under Tier 1 (General) as a highly skilled migrant or as a skilled worker under Tier 2 General, sportsperson or minister of religion).
The first change is English language course has been raised to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Here also mentioned that those student who have not gotten level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) they have to complete minimum level of B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to come and study an English language course in the UK.
But the main problem for Bangladeshi students is that as Bengali is the first language in Bangladesh and European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is not matching our education system. Here the question is raised that students those who want to go UK from Bangladesh, they need to fulfill their English language requirement as per level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)? The answer will be yes.
University of CAMBRIDGE ESOL Examination published their research notes on November 2004 that “IELTS, Cambridge ESOL examination s and the Common European Frame work”.
Here University totally compares between IELTS and Common European language Frame work. They clearly mention level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) equivalent to IELTS SCORE 5.00-6.00 and B1 LEVEL IS equivalent 3.5 to 4.5.
Those students will get below B2 level I mean B1 LEVEL or 3.5.-4.5 IELTS score they have to attended extra English language course in college/University.
So, we request all students who are keen interested to go UK for study purpose, please don’t submit their visa application until they complete their IELTS.
